Changes in the opening hours and other services of Kela service points during the summer

Published 22/5/2025

We recommend using the OmaKela e-service or calling Kela’s customer service numbers if you need to contact Kela during the summer. The opening hours of many Kela service points will change for the summer.

The summer opening hours of Kela service points will be phased in starting from May or June. Regular opening hours will resume by 30 September 2025 at the latest.

Check www.kela.fi/visit-kela for up-to-date information on the opening hours of Kela service points. We have also compiled a separate list of the Kela service points that have different summer opening hours in 2025 (PDF) for your convenience. All other Kela service points will be open as usual during the summer. Contact Kela’s phone service to book an appointment at a Kela service point that is open by appointment.

Contact Kela online or by phone

You can access the majority of Kela’s services conveniently online. Please note that our e-service is only available in Finnish and Swedish.

In the OmaKela e-service, you can, for example

  • apply for benefits
  • view Kela’s decisions on your applications
  • check the payment dates of your benefits
  • submit supporting documents.

OmaKela’s chat provides service also in the summer on weekdays from 12.00 to 15.30. In addition, you can also visit our Facebook and Instagram for up-to-date information on Kela’s services and benefits in the summer.

If you cannot find an answer to your question online, you can call Kela’s customer service. Our phone service is open from 9.00 to 16.00 on weekdays (Monday to Friday) all summer with the exception of 20 June (Midsummer's Eve), when our phone service is closed. We provide the same services to our customers over the phone as we do at Kela service points.

You can confirm your identity in advance in OmaKela before you call one of our customer service numbers. If you do that, we can help you more quickly because the Kela specialist who answers your call can see your information immediately. You can also call Kela without confirming your identity in advance. If you do, our specialist will verify your identity in some other way during the call.

Call requests for customer service by phone in Finnish, Swedish or English can be submitted in OmaKela. You can submit a call request for the same or next weekday. One of our specialists will call you within 30 minutes of the call time you have selected.

Services in the Sámi languages in summer

  • Phone service in Skolt Sámi: Thursdays 9.00–11.00 at 020 634 4795. The service is closed from 2 June to 13 June 2025 and from 14 July to 1 August 2025.
  • Phone service in Northern Sámi: closed until further notice.

Customers who speak Sámi can send a contact request by email to saame@kela.fi.

How do I contact Kela if my closest Kela service point is closed?

If you cannot go online or call us and your closest Kela service point is closed, you have a number of other options.

  • Joint service points and other places that provide service: Many cities and towns have joint service points operated by various public authorities. These service points provide general advice on Kela-related matters. You can also get help and advice on Kela-related matters at a One-Stop Guidance Centre (Ohjaamo), a Lähitori service centre or a general service centre.
  • Kela’s remote service: Many cities and towns provide access to Kela’s remote service, which allows you to talk to a Kela employee via a video connection. Our remote service offers the same kind of services as Kela service points.
  • Contacting Kela by post: You can send documents to and contact Kela by post at Kela, PL 10, 00056 KELA.
